The Archivist 4.0 must be used with HyperCard version 2.1 (or a more recent version) with a Macintosh with a monitor size of at least 640 by 400 pixels. With this new version, the PowerBooks can be used to archive all your precious text files. However, you must make sure The Archivist can use 4 megs of RAM to reach a better performance and achieve 3 operations: Create Archivist File, Import Archivist File, Import big documents (e.g. texts of more than 32Kb).
Before using an Archivist file for the first time, you must check that HyperCard is partitioned for at least 2 Megs of RAM as can be noted in the right figure. To do this, do a single click on the HyperCard icon and activate the “Get info” menu item from the File menu. If HyperCard is partitioned to less than 2 Megs RAM, set it to at least 2 Megs. If you are lucky enough to have more RAM, never hesitate to increase this value since your stacks and The Archivist will run more smoothly and will be much more rapid.
